About Cirencester

Shop frontCirencester, known as 'The Capital of the Cotswolds' is a charming historic market town, situated in the county of Gloucestershire.

Even though it is in the heart of the Cotswolds, it still enjoys a relatively central position, with London (to the East) only 90 minutes away via the M4, Birmingham (to the north) is 75 minutes away and Cornwall only 2 hours away down the M5.

Its location makes it an ideal base for visitors wishing to tour the Cotswolds with places such as Bibury, Bourton-on-the-water, Stow-on-the-Wold, Cheltenham and Oxford within easy reach.

Its diverse range of shops means that Cirencester is a popular shopping destination too, with almost 330 shops within a short radius of the town centre, incorporating a mix of well known High Street names and, smaller independently owned stores. In addition there are numerous delectable cafes, bistros and restaurants, it really does have something for everyone.

A particular place of interest just off the Market Place is Swan Yard which now forms part of the new Old Post Office redevelopment and has become a welcome addition to the Cirencester shopping experience.

Cirencester has a number of town centre car parks that are available, including spaces in the Market Place.
